This question took centre stage at Compliance Now! 2026 – and we were there with NENNA.AI. On 7 and 8 May 2026, leading minds from the compliance sector gathered at the Lufthansa Training & Conference Centre in Seeheim-Jugenheim near Frankfurt to discuss the challenges and opportunities surrounding legal integrity and technological innovation.

🌱 Future-proof compliance
Manuel Georg Bauer offered a compelling outlook on the future of AI tools in the compliance sphere: “By 2027, technology budgets in legal departments for generative and agentic AI are expected to double.”
🔍 Technology requires human guidance
Peter Kunz from Commerzbank AG highlighted why keeping a “human in the loop” remains vital: AI reliably assists with pattern recognition, but true quality only emerges through collaboration with experienced analysts.
💡 AI for effective training
Markus Bamberger from Bosch explained how AI-powered video formats help train more than 400,000 employees worldwide while moving beyond the “tick-box” mentality in compliance training. His main message: “Compliance becomes effective when its relevance transcends mere obligation.”
🤝 Ethics and AI go hand in hand
You cannot automate ethics – you can only automate ethically. Innovation demands clear governance and processes so that AI-supported decisions remain trustworthy and compliant with data privacy regulations. (Melanie P., Knorr-Bremse)
🌍 Global perspectives
Hanno Kunkel from Siemens illustrated how global geopolitics and human rights issues are fundamentally transforming the role of compliance, requiring new dimensions in risk assessment: a more international and sustainable approach to export controls, AI, and local data protection requirements.
Raphael Dorda from PALFINGER AG emphasised how crucial data quality is to safeguarding proprietary expertise amid a surge of new regulations and geopolitical tensions.
