Berlin, January 2026. The Berlin-based startup NENNA.AI has secured more than one million euros in funding to drive its continued growth. The investment round is led by IBB Ventures and dfv Venture (dfv Media Group), with additional support from business angels in the B2B Deep Tech and consulting sectors. The Berlin startup operates a highly secure AI platform that enables companies to use leading AI models such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude & Co in a GDPR-compliant manner while maintaining full data sovereignty. NENNA.AI protects intellectual property and personal data – in other words, the corporate reputation.
NENNA.AI protects companies from cybersecurity risks posed by shadow AI
According to a study by BITKOM, 40 per cent of employees in German companies use private or freely available AI tools. Globally, 50 per cent of companies report unauthorised uploads of sensitive information and data into free AI models.
This poses risks of data loss, the exposure of trade secrets and breaches of contracts. By law, management bears the responsibility. Under the EU AI Act and GDPR requirements, companies must demonstrate how they handle sensitive data.
Companies are therefore required to implement protective measures and train employees in handling AI.
The solution from NENNA.AI: Secure real-time masking combined with practical multi-model access
By automatically masking personal data and sensitive information in prompts and documents, NENNA.AI customers always retain full sovereignty over their data. After secure data processing in the AI models, NENNA.AI unmasks the information so that employees can work with complete, usable results.
NENNA.AI significantly reduces expenditure on software and cloud services, offering central access to AI applications without separate licences. At the same time, regulatory risks are minimised and strategic corporate assets are protected.
From small teams to enterprise clients: NENNA.AI can be used anywhere. Over the last three months, NENNA.AI has won over 50 B2B clients in sectors such as manufacturing, legal & tax, media and e-commerce. Their employees have instant access to all leading AI models via the central AI interface NENNA-Chat and enjoy the flexibility to integrate and develop their own AI models and agents.
NENNA.AI received several awards for this innovative concept in 2025: The ATHENE Award from the Fraunhofer Society research centre as a top 3 cybersecurity startup in the DACH region, and the AI Everything Award at GITEX Europe. In addition, NENNA.AI was named the best German Legal Tech startup at the German Legal Tech Summit.

Alexander Siebert, CEO & Founder of NENNA.AI: "We are delighted with the trust shown by our new shareholders. Their investments will enable us to scale even faster to establish NENNA.AI as the European standard for AI privacy. Companies do not want to block AI, but rather use it securely with full control. Our platform ensures that relevant data actually remains with the companies, rather than simply trusting that no one is reading along."
Clemens Kabel, Investment Director at IBB Ventures: "European data sovereignty is becoming a significant competitive advantage, and the way companies handle AI plays a central role in this. NENNA.AI combines AI innovation with European values. Our investment represents a commitment to the reference solution for AI privacy, Made in Berlin."
Thomas Berner, Managing Director of dfv Media Group, parent company of dfv Venture: "The growth of NENNA.AI demonstrates that European companies are actively seeking solutions that enable innovation while guaranteeing data protection. NENNA.AI is perfectly positioned to define AI privacy in Europe, making it an important strategic investment for us."
The current investment round includes business angel Ravin Mehta, Manfred Großert, co-founder and managing director of united communications GmbH, as well as Dr Ulrich Meier, co-founder and former managing director of hotsplots GmbH.
This follows earlier funding from business angels with a focus on B2B and deep tech, including Dr Jörg Ontrup, Ravin Mehta, Christian Henschel, Halbleiter and Jens Spyrka.
