"Protecting data and utilizing it" was the message from the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Louisa Specht-Riemenschneider, at the Data Matters event hosted by the Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft (BVDW) e.V. in Berlin. This is precisely where NENNA comes in: instead of blocking AI adoption due to data privacy concerns, we enable full scale collaboration with AI models. According to a recent Bitkom survey, about two thirds of German companies cannot successfully implement innovative AI projects due to data protection issues. However, companies must fully exploit the efficiency gains of AI tools to remain competitive, especially in an international context.

How the NENNA Shield works:
➡️ NENNA.AI is accessed via the browser and acts as a protective layer, masking personal data such as names, addresses, phone numbers and banking information before it is passed to generative AI models. It works essentially like an antivirus software. The data remains entirely on the employee's computer. Employees can also manually mask or centrally manage company names or intellectual property. This also applies when uploading Word and PDF files.
➡️ Prompt processing with the LLM: The Large Language Model (LLM) sees no personal data and returns the information masked in the output. The LLM is used in a fully GDPR and EU AI ACT compliant manner.
➡️ Easy unmasking by the user: Users can easily restore the original data back into working documents like emails, Word files or contracts. This allows tasks such as translations, correspondence or personal contract queries to be handled safely and efficiently.
