ZURICH, 26 May 2026 – NENNA AI, a Berlin-based AI data privacy platform, has joined the Groundshift portfolio. Initially backed by angel investors and having closed a seed round led by IBB Ventures and DFV Mediengruppe at the end of 2025, the company enables enterprises to utilise all foundation models without exposing sensitive data to the respective model providers.

NENNA Chat serves as a complete, independent enterprise AI platform – comparable to Google Gemini Enterprise or Claude for Business, yet with a fundamental difference: it delivers all leading AI models (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, Mistral, and open-source alternatives) through a single, secure European interface where sensitive data never reaches external providers. Rather than forcing organisations to choose between competing model ecosystems, NENNA becomes the central AI infrastructure for all AI usage within the enterprise – featuring secure model access, proprietary knowledge bases, agentic workflows, and a privacy-by-design architecture. NENNA Watch extends this control to shadow AI usage across 300+ external services, while NENNA Shield embeds the same protection via an API into proprietary AI processes – all powered by EU-hosted infrastructure that complies with the most stringent regulatory requirements.

„We founded NENNA because the data privacy issue with AI is structural. The moment a prompt reaches an external model provider, control is lost – regardless of how strong their security promises are. European companies, particularly in regulated industries, cannot accept this risk. They require banking secrecy, professional secrecy, DORA compliance. But they also cannot afford to wait while competitors leverage AI. The only solution is architectural: sensitive data must be removed before it leaves the corporate perimeter, processed by an independent party whom the organisation trusts precisely because we are not the model provider. That is what NENNA does - it eliminates the forced compromise between innovation and compliance.“ -- Alexander Siebert, Co-CEO, NENNA AI

„European companies are simultaneously the most eager AI adopters and the most heavily regulated. This tension creates a massive market opportunity. NENNA does not just address GDPR – it solves the deeper problem for banks, insurance companies, law firms, and the public sector, which are faced with industry-specific regulations far stricter than general data protection laws. These organisations represent trillions in economic value and were previously effectively locked out of the AI revolution. NENNA's architecture unlocks this market by making data exposure structurally impossible – not just contractually prohibited. The team's over 25 years of NLP specialisation and the commercial traction in the most demanding industries convinced us that this team will own the enterprise AI privacy layer in Europe.“ -- Alexandre Moreillon, Investment Director, Groundshift

Financial services are a core use case for NENNA AI, not an adjacent one. Banks, insurance companies, and regulated financial institutions experience the sharpest edge of the tension between AI and data privacy: banking secrecy, DORA, and regulatory outsourcing requirements make them the most restricted AI adopters and yet the most eager. NENNA's compliance-native architecture and EU-hosted infrastructure are built precisely for this environment - which is why Groundshift, as a firm focused on B2B fintech and enterprise software for financial institutions, has selected NENNA AI as a portfolio company.
