A study by the Federal Statistical Office shows that the use of generative AI in 2024 has increased by 8%. Nevertheless, uncertainty continues to prevail when it comes to data protection. Companies that do not yet use AI cited the following reasons:
58% lack of clarity on legal consequences
53% concerns regarding data protection and privacy
Consequently, the potential of generative AI in companies is often not fully exploited. Companies that manage to secure sustainable, long-term compliance and work with AI models gain a clear competitive advantage.
NENNA.AI can help prevent uncertainty in this area: Our use cases show how NENNA.AI secures personal data when using AI models — in compliance with the EU AI Act and GDPR. No complex setups of server structures are necessary. NENNA.AI protects personal data quickly, reliably and directly via the employees' browsers.
#1 NENNA Shield: Masking
No more personal data in LLMs
Our Shield masks personalised data directly while prompting in applications like ChatGPT. This allows users to check that personal data remains protected during the input stage. The generative AI application only sees masked content. The prompt continues to work in terms of meaning and is GDPR-compliant, as the clipboard is processed on European servers.
NENNA.AI is used via the browser and acts as a protective layer, masking personal data such as name, address, telephone numbers and banking information before it is passed on to generative AI models.
At the same time, users can copy the generated text from the application and unmask the data during further processing on their own computer. Tasks such as correspondence or personal contract queries can be handled easily and quickly in over 200 AI applications.
#2 Shield for Files
Safely use PDF and Word in AI applications
You can also continue working directly in documents such as emails, Word files or contracts. Masking PDF and Word files is no problem for NENNA.AI. Documents, employment contracts or campaign briefings can be digitally redacted by Shield while using AI tools.
Video #2 shows: Simply drag the document into applications that allow document uploads and all sensitive data will be masked – easy to use and always reliable.
#3 Working with Client Briefings
Always mask sensitive data securely
Data leaks are prevented and working with AI applications remains anonymised. This can make all the difference, especially for agencies with many different clients and internal briefings. Masking company secrets prevents them from being hacked at a later date.
Our Use Case #3 shows how client data is protected when, for example, client-related documents are uploaded to AI tools. Guarantee your clients safe working practices with personal data and improve your corporate image.
#4 Secure Translation
Masking even before entering data into the tool
Personalised data must also be masked accordingly when working in AI-assisted translation programmes like DeepL. Generative AI models read along as soon as you type! In our editor, AI applications cannot access the content immediately, but only receive a version that has already been masked by NENNA.AI and verified by users.
Our Use Case #4 shows how NENNA.AI helps to translate texts into other languages without having to enter client information directly into the tool. This especially helps agencies and law firms to comply with their confidentiality obligations. It also makes work significantly easier for HR departments working in multiple languages.
NENNA.AI 2025 Release
In 2025, we released our new NENNA.AI version. The improved interface now offers the opportunity to work directly in the browser. From now on, our clients can select various data points directly within NENNA.AI.
This allows the prompt to be edited even before it is entered into the input fields of LLMs like ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity. This provides even greater flexibility in protecting personalised data and company secrets in AI applications.
