Berlin, 14 April 2025 – alfamedia and nenna.ai are joining forces in a new partnership to increase security when using various AI tools. By integrating nenna.ai’s advanced software into alfamedia's forward-looking solutions, editorial offices and publishing staff are supported in working as GDPR-compliant as possible, even when using AI tools.
Nenna.ai specialises in the data security of AI solutions, not only clearing up common misunderstandings regarding the use of such tools, but also preventing the misuse or unintentional disclosure of personal data, regardless of whether AI tools are used in separate applications or via a browser connection.
By masking sensitive data, it is encrypted directly upon creation and protected accordingly against misuse or hidden transmission. This enables media companies to apply the possibilities of AI safely and thereby minimise data protection risks.
Focus on Security and Data Protection
The customisable browser plugin detects such sensitive data as soon as it is entered in the alfa EditorialOrganiser and only transmits it to the AI tool for further processing after masking. Word or PDF documents that enter the alfa ContentLine automatically are also checked and encrypted by the NENNA.AI software. This reduces liability risks, increases trust in editorial work, and makes it possible to use AI tools without creating security gaps.
"Thanks to the partnership between alfamedia and NENNA.AI, content and data sets can be protected in the alfa ContentLine and the alfa BusinessLine in a GDPR-compliant manner as far as possible, fully automated, so that no extra work is created for the employees," emphasises Oliver Andrich, CTO of alfamedia. "We can integrate NENNA.AI's tools into our editorial solutions via an API, thereby creating additional efficiency in daily work."
Over 300 AI tools are automatically detected by NENNA.AI, targeted at preventing shadow usage. Best of all: no additional hardware is required. The servers are located exclusively in Germany, enabling compliance with GDPR and the EU AI Act. Through on-the-fly masking, NENNA.AI enables all employees in the company to work with documents and AI without IP or data protection violations.
Worry-Free Use of AI Applications
"AI tools now make the work of media companies considerably easier. However, employees are often uncertain whether they are working in compliance with the GDPR or whether something has changed in the regulations for the safe use of AI tools," explains Michael Marcks, CEO of alfamedia. "With the integration of NENNA.AI, we can nip such uncertainties in the bud in everyday editorial life, allowing editors to concentrate on what matters most: generating high-quality journalistic content."
"Together with alfamedia, we are sending a strong signal for secure AI in the workplace," says Lars Moll, CEO and Co-Founder of NENNA.AI. "Whether in prompts or files: personal and sensitive data remains secure at all times with NENNA.AI. This strengthens not only data protection within the company, but also cyber resilience."
